British Standards for roofing

Keeping track of British Standards can be difficult. There are, after all, more than 27,000 of them. The good news is that they don’t all relate to roofing, or even the construction industry - so if you’re trying to work out which British Standards apply to roofing, you only need to worry about a fraction of the thousands that are out there.

BS 5250

The launch of the fully revised British Standard, BS 5250, aims to address all sources of moisture within buildings and the associated impacts to the building fabric and occupants’ health by preventing them from becoming breeding grounds for health hazards such as mould spores and spreading infections.

BS 5534

The British Standard for Slating and Tiling.

BS 5534 provides the industry with guidance on best practice, relating to the installation of a roof.

BS 8612

Dry fixed ridge, hip and verge systems for slating and tiling.

BS 8612 sets the minimum quality and performance criteria for dry fix products.

Part L

Part L is a building regulation that covers the ' Conservation of Fuel and Power' concerning both new construction projects and some refurbishment work, for dwellings and other buildings in England.
