“I really enjoy being involved in generating ideas and implementing innovations across the site.”
James Munro, Handmade & Continuous Improvement Champion, Keele Works
In mid-2014 I graduated from Staffordshire University with First Class Honours in Business Management after studying part-time alongside my role as a QA Technician with Marley. Since then I have held a trainee team leader role and in 2015, I was allocated this role, which encompasses responsibility for the new Canterbury Handmade Tile production line as well as playing a key role in driving the Keele site forward in the move to a more continuous improvement style culture.
I enjoy the variety that comes with the day to day running of a production line, and getting to know how different operators like to work. Being a part of the company-wide continuous improvement team also excites me with occasional travelling to view the other sites and the sharing of different methods and best practice helping to encourage company-wide standardisation.
Marley has provided me with the opportunity to continue to develop and improve myself in terms of knowledge and experience. Regular Personal Development Reviews also help me to set targets and highlight any gaps in my knowledge or experience which can be fulfilled.
Marley is a very good company to work for, that prioritises the safety and welfare of all of its employees. Plus, the rate of innovation and change is definitely on the increase. This makes it quite an exciting time to be working for Marley.
