Job Profile:

To lead the works team to ensure the safe, financially efficient achievement of customer demand.

Key Responsibilities: 

Safety & environment: To take the leading role in the Works to ensure that safety is always treated as the number one priority and that the works operates in such a way as to minimise environmental impact.

Customer satisfaction: Ensure that the manufacturing processes within the works comply with product specification and appearance acceptable to the customer.  Work with Sales and Marketing to optimise the current products on offer and develop on innovation opportunities.

Leadership: Demonstrate through action, strong leadership principles. Promote and foster team working. Operate with integrity at all times by doing the right thing.  Responsible for recruitment, training, discipline and labour organisation of your team in accordance with company procedures.

Communication: Carry out and maintain the effective communication requirements of the business utilising all media formats.  Be pro-active, promote and encourage participative communication across all functional areas.  Responsible for ensuring that all data logged into company systems is accurate.

Operational performance: Apply continuous improvement techniques like “Practical Problem Solving” and Lean methodology to drive performance improvement.

Workplace organisation: To use established principles (5S) to ensure that the workplace is organised in the most effective manner.

Cost control: Ensure that all overhead budgets are delivered on target.  Responsible for achieving or bettering the CDT.  Will ensure that the works is focussed towards margin achievement.

Person Specification: is extremely competitive, ambitious and goal orientated; tackles projects and situations aggressively; wants responsibility for an authority over people; enjoys overcoming objections/resistance and achieving goals in the face of obstacles; is restless, driving and energetic; works well under pressure and deadlines; is a good communicator, optimistic, tending to see the positive side of things.

Qualifications & skills: The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level, preferably in Management, Engineering or Science and have the following qualifications: IOSH qualified, preferably also NEBOSH certified, Preferably ILM or CMI Level 5 or higher qualification, Preferably Lean & 6 Sigma Green Belt from reputable provider, relevant management experience within a manufacturing environment
