Western Red Cedar Shingles

Marley Shingles provide award-winning, striking roof for Scottish coastal home in Fairlie, Ayreshire.

All in the detail

Marley’s Western Red Cedar Shingles have been specified as a sustainable, robust and aesthetically suitable roofing solution for a new build/refurbishment project at a residential property, Pine House in Fairlie, Ayrshire.

Approximately 300m² of shingles was specified for the roof covering, which has helped create an eye-catching property that sits seamlessly within its surroundings. In addition, the shingles specified were also treated with a clear treatment that not only protects against wood rooting fungi and insect attacks, but also lets the shingles weather naturally without any staining sometimes associated with other treatments. They can also deliver an extended life span of 40 years.

Daniel Redfern, Marketing Campaign Manager from Marley, said: “The unique curvature of the roof, meant the project contractor required a roofing solution which would not only offer flexible installation, but also blend perfectly into the natural surroundings, so our Western Red Cedar Shingles offered the ideal solution.”
