Concrete Roof Tiles

High-performance concrete roof tiles from Marley

Concrete roof tiles are a popular and versatile choice for all types of pitched roofing projects – from residential and commercial buildings to traditional and modern designs.
At Marley, our collection of concrete roof tiles includes both plain tiles and large-format flat and profiled tiles in a range of colours and finishes, combining aesthetics with long-lasting quality and weather resistance.

Concrete roof tiles – manufactured for lasting performance

Concrete roof tiles are made from natural raw materials – primarily sand, cement and water. Iron oxide pigments are added to achieve consistent colour.

The raw materials are blended in carefully controlled quantities at our three manufacturing facilities in the UK. The concrete is machine-moulded to ensure precision in size and shape, before being cured under monitored conditions to achieve a high-quality finish. The tiles are then tested for quality.

Concrete roof tiles for BS 5534 compliance

The Marley range of concrete roof tiles – including plain, profiled and large-format flat concrete roof tiles – has been engineered to meet the most exacting project briefs and British Standards, providing weather protection and visual appeal.

According to BS 5534:2014+A2:2018, the code of practice for slating and tiling on pitched roofs and vertical cladding, mortar cannot be relied upon as the sole means of securing a roof covering. Our concrete roof tiles are suitable for dry-fix installation using mechanical fixings, such as nails or SoloFix clips, to secure them to the battens. This provides a simple and compliant fixing method. Where required, mechanical fixing can be combined with mortar bedding for a traditional appearance.

Installing concrete roof tiles

Installing concrete roof tiles is a straightforward process. Roof battens should be laid using the recommended spacing/gauge for the selected roof tile, and other roof elements, such as integrated solar panels, eaves systems and ridge battens, should be installed. Once all these elements are in place, the roof tiles can be installed.

Concrete tiles should typically be installed from the eaves upward, working in horizontal rows. Each tile should align with the tiles around it, with adequate overlap. Once each tile is in place, it can be mechanically fixed using nails or clips.
