How does dry verge compare to mortar?

Dry verge offers a range of advantages when compared to a traditional ‘wet’ mortar verge. While repointing with mortar may seem cheaper initially, a dry verge requires almost no maintenance and is longer lasting, offering greater value over its lifespan.

Dry verge is less susceptible to damage from wind, rain, UV, changing temperatures and other potentially harmful conditions. Traditional ‘wet’ mortar verge is not as durable and can crack or even dislodge entirely when exposed to bad weather.

Aesthetically, dry verge offers a sleeker, more modern look that can be neater than a traditional wet mortar verge. This difference becomes more pronounced over time as the dry verge keeps a pristine finish for much longer, in part thanks to drainage channels which guide rainwater away and reduce the risk of staining.

Finally, dry verge is simpler and faster to install than a wet mortar verge. That makes it a more time- and cost-effective choice for both new and existing homes.
