Faye is Technical Team Lead and specialises in all things roofing.

I began my career within the construction industry back in 1998 joining Marley as a Sales Administrator. I was quickly promoted to Customer Service Co-ordinator where I managed customer accounts throughout the country, pro-actively promoting sales, quoting prices, dealing with and resolving complaints as well as monitoring market trends and competitor activity. This meant working in conjunction with the external sales team, managing leads throughout the country. To do this effectively maintaining good relations with both colleagues and customers was essential to offer an effective and courteous service. The position involved mentoring others in customer service skills, providing support and advice to those who were new to the business. I completed numerous training courses which involved both theory and practical sessions in roofing product knowledge, estimating courses and completing NVQ qualifications, gaining accreditation to become an NVQ assessor supporting other students. I worked in a sales environment for several years whilst bringing up a family of 3 children. Following development of my career I was eager to enhance my skills and knowledge further. To accomplish this I transitioned into a technical role within Marley’s Technical Department. The TAS role involves calculating bill of quantities, generating fixing specifications, estimates, NBS documents and Solar configurations using scaled drawings for roofing, renewables and cladding products. Whilst in the technical environment I also completed the Institute of Roofing course achieving Associate level credited with 1 distinction and 2 merits in my results. I continued the development of my career by moving into a technical environment offering support with external wall insulation and rendering solutions. This role enabled me to gain understanding of thermal transmittance within elements of a building and broaden my experience in a different aspect of the building industry. Later I moved into an estimating role for a well-known roofing contractor generating detailed cost estimates for roofing projects throughout the country. Predominantly this was for large, residential housing developments and occasionally care homes and commercial buildings. In order to fulfil all these roles effectively, competently and competitively, intricate attention to detail as well as extensive knowledge of building regulations and British standard guidelines is essential. Structural knowledge and an awareness of building practices was also advantageous. Returning to my roots at Marley Ltd I have achieved the role of Technical Team Leader. I am extremely proud of our team, we provide a high level of technical expertise to architects and specifiers, through to builders’ merchants, contractors and DIY novices looking for valuable support. As part of my responsibilities, I conduct Product Knowledge and Estimating courses both online and in our training centre for anyone with an interest in developing their own skills.
