Sparlings Farm

Marley Weatherboard

Sparlings Farm, a multi-plot housing development, near Barnston in Essex, is bringing an array of unique new homes to the local area.

Looking to balance aesthetic appeal with high performance, three of the new homes feature Marley’s innovative fibre cement external cladding system, Weatherboard.

The exteriors of two 4-bedroom properties and one 3-bedroom home at the 11-plot site have been specified in slate grey and black Weatherboard colourways. This specification choice is designed to complement the mix of render and brickwork finishes utilised on the remaining homes for a highly attractive aesthetic, which fits seamlessly into Sparlings Farm’s rural location.

The cladding solution was recommended to the high-end site’s developer by local merchants Hancock’s Drainage and Building.

Owner, Paul Hancock, explains why: “We’ve stocked Marley’s tiles for many years, and last year, we added the company’s Weatherboard solution to our market offering. We have total confidence in Marley’s product performance, extensive product range and manufacturing quality.

“After discussing the project with our client, we proposed the use of Weatherboard to clad a number of the homes at Sparlings Farm, knowing it would look fantastic alongside the alternative finishes used elsewhere on the development. After assessing the range of colours available in the Weatherboard range, the client was attracted to a striking combination of slate grey and black as the final colour specification choices. They work really well together, and the client is delighted with the outcome post-installation.”

Quick and simple installation – with added benefits

Once planning permission was obtained for the inclusion of Marley’s Weatherboard system at Sparlings Farm, the developer’s team reaped the benefits of its straightforward installation. This meant fitting the external cladding system was completed without delay or any technical issues.

Paul Hancock adds: “Marley’s Weatherboard is a quality and low maintenance cladding solution that helps to protect properties against the climate. It’s quick and easy to install and provides the design flexibility to create different outcomes – from contemporary façades to more traditional aesthetics. Marley also supplies all the necessary colour-matched trims and accessories to provide a complete system, from a single source, backed with a great performance guarantee.

“Weatherboard also offers wider measurements at 200mm, which compares nicely with the other cladding systems on the market. This provides a competitive price per sq. metre and allows for speedier installation timescales on site. It’s a great cladding solution, particularly at a time of escalating timber costs.”

Proven performance

As a proven solution for weather and moisture protection, as well enhancing thermal performance, Weatherboard not only looks good, but it also offers long-term assurance and minimal maintenance commitments for homeowners.

Marley’s Weatherboard range has been certified by the leading applied safety science authority, UL Solutions. Following robust independent testing, the fibre cement board solution for external cladding has been certified to meet all relevant standards for performance, quality and safety.
