Ridge tiles are manufactured to be durable. But if one becomes damaged, it’s important to get it fixed as soon as possible. This is because even small cracks or chips in the tiles can make the roof more vulnerable to wind uplift and weather damage.
The cost of replacing a ridge tile in the UK depends on a wide range of factors, including your location, the type of ridge tile and the fixing method (mortar or dry fix). Other factors that could influence the cost may include the overall condition of the roof, the roof pitch and access requirements – for example, if scaffolding is required.
If only a single ridge tile has come loose or been damaged, the repair may be relatively quick and inexpensive. This is particularly the case if it’s part of a dry-fix system, as this installation method allows for easier removal and replacement of individual tiles. However, if multiple ridge tiles are affected or there are other issues with the roof, such as damage to the ridge batten, additional work may be necessary, meaning increased costs.
Where possible we would always recommend getting at least three quotes and only using reputable roofing contractors to carry out the work.
