Marley SolarTile®

Marrying aesthetics with the power of solar tiles.

In the detail...

The Project

As the cost of living, particularly fuel prices, continues to rise, more and more people are turning to solar power to offset their energy costs. However, for many homeowners, this switch to green energy should not mean a compromise on how their properties look.

This was the driving factor of this project in Carlisle. The homeowner was looking to harness solar power but didn’t want to use retrofitted solar panels that sit on top of the roof tiles. The integrated nature of the Marley SolarTile® was the major selling factor.

“On this project, we fitted Marley’s SolarTiles®,” said David Fraser of Fraser Roofing. “The client wanted a solar panel integrated into the roof because aesthetics was very important.

“It was the first time our team had fitted these, but they’d seen them fitted on other projects. The instructions that came with the solar tiles were straightforward to follow, and we were able to fit them without any problems.

Why solar?

As a renewable energy, solar electricity doesn’t release carbon dioxide, so it can significantly cut a building’s carbon footprint.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, a typical home could save between 1.3 and 1.6 tonnes of carbon per year and save up to £260 on the annual electricity bill (when using the energy generated) simply by installing solar panels.

Marley SolarTile® is a roof-integrated solar panel roof that, when installed as a full roof system, is covered by Marley’s 15-year full roof system warranty. They can also be installed as a retrofit option.
