Why Choose Marley SolarTile®?

Marley SolarTile® combines the benefits of renewable energy generation and ease of installation with the durability, reliability and aesthetics of a fully integrated roof system.

These solar panel roof tiles have been independently assessed for durability, giving homeowners, builders and specifiers confidence in the long-term performance of the product. The entire roof-integrated solar system can be installed to satisfy NHBC Technical Requirements for compliance with recognised quality and construction standards.

Complete Solar Roof System - Complete Peace of Mind

Marley SolarTile® can be specified as a standalone solar panel roof tile or as part of Marley’s complete Roof System. Each solar PV roof tile is supplied as a complete system, including all necessary fittings and flashings, for straightforward specification and installation. The result is a source of renewable energy that provides tested levels of wind resistance and fire performance.

When installed as part of the Marley Roof System, the SolarTile® becomes an integral part of the roof covering, protecting the home from the weather while also generating power. Suitable for new-builds or re-roofing projects, all components of the Roof System are designed and tested to work together, from the battens and underlay to the roof tiles, fittings and solar tiles. This helps to simplify specification, reduce installation risks and support long-term performance of the complete roof.

Flush fit for enhanced kerb appeal

Marley SolarTile® is designed to form an integral part of the roof fabric and is fixed directly to the battens, replacing standard tiles or slates. The result is a flush fit, with the solar panel roof tiles sitting level with the surrounding roof covering and providing a sleek and unobtrusive roof finish.

As well as contributing to the solar tiles’ visual appeal, the flush-fit design of Marley SolarTile® eliminates gaps under or behind the solar panels. This prevents birds from nesting and minimises maintenance requirements, helping to ensure that the solar roof tiles deliver consistent long-term performance.

Solar panel roof tiles designed for quick and easy installation

Marley SolarTile® has been designed for simple installation, helping contractors save time and ensure a high-quality finish. Colour-coded flashing kits remove guesswork, reducing the need for additional materials and minimising installation errors.

For new roofs or extensions to existing buildings, BS 5534:2014+A2:2022, the code of practice for slating and tiling for pitched roofs and vertical cladding, requires that all roof tiles must be mechanically fixed with nails or clips in line with building regulations. As a roof-integrated solar panel, Marley SolarTile® is installed directly onto the battens, with traditional roof tiles fixed around it.

The Marley SolarTile® Range

410Wp Solar Panel

The 410Wp Marley SolarTile® photovoltaic roof panel provides a higher peak power output than the 335Wp panel, delivering up to 410Wp per tile. This increased capacity allows homeowners to generate more electricity from the same roof area or install fewer tiles to achieve the desired system output.

Suitable for both new-build and retrofit projects where maximising energy generation is a priority, the 410Wp SolarTile® offers the flush-fit design, integrated flashings and tested wind and fire performance that the Marley SolarTile® range is known for.

Designed for new build and refurbishment on existing buildings
Marley SolarTile® is a versatile choice for both roof refurbishments and new-build projects. These solar photovoltaic (PV) roof tiles provide an uncluttered aesthetic with no visible brackets or racking, along with easy maintenance, and they are backed by our market-leading 15-year system guarantee.

Designed to be fitted as part of a typical roofing project, Marley SolarTile® is quick to install thanks to its patented push-together design. Typical installation times can be less than one hour per kilowatt peak, helping to reduce labour costs and project timelines.
All in the panel details

Installed in either a landscape or portrait orientation, Marley SolarTile® panels are easily combined using patented push-fit technology. This offers flexibility of design, enabling solar arrays to be arranged in any shape or size.

The solar panel roof tiles also feature 5mm panel spacing between tiles and hidden fixings that give a sleek, high-end finish.

Panel performance
Marley SolarTile® is the only roof-integrated solar system to achieve the highest classification for resistance to the spread of flame and fire penetration in all European fire safety tests (BRoof T1, T2, T3 and T4).
The PV solar panel roof tiles also provide excellent weather-tightness and wind resistance, without the need for extra roof batten support, adhesive flashing rolls or fireproofing materials. The certified wind resistance for Marley SolarTile® is more than four times higher than competitor PV roof tiles and is suitable for even the most exposed locations.
Marley SolarTile® is compatible with the entire range of Marley roof coverings, including clay and concrete tiles and cedar shingles and shakes, and it is suitable for installation on low-pitch roofs.

Solar roof tile Installation

See how simple it is to install the Marley SolarTile® system.

Marley SolarTile® has been designed with straightforward installation in mind, whether for new-build projects or retrofit applications.

For new-builds or full re-roofing projects, the solar panel roof tiles and flashing kits can be fixed directly to the roof battens. Then the surrounding roof covering is fixed around them. This approach allows the solar tiles to form a fully integrated part of the finished roof.

Installation is also easy for retrofit projects. Begin by removing the section of existing roof tiles, then replace them with the Marley SolarTile® panels, before re-tiling up to the flashings. The result is a weather-tight, roof-integrated system with no frames or fixings.

To see the installation process in more detail, watch our Solar PV installation video.

Installation videos for irregular configurations of solar PV roof tiles

For projects featuring non-standard solar panel layouts, we have a series of installation videos that demonstrate the correct use of flashing kits for each corner and junction. These videos have been created to guide installers through the process and ensure a consistent, weather-tight finish for the solar panel roof tiles.
