Membership fees also help to fund their nature conservation projects, and one of their biggest and most exciting nature conservation projects β SUNRISE β has been developing in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. The project delivers improvements on areas including:
The project, of which the Trust were lead partner, had the primary goal to:
They also have two people engagement projects that membership will help to fund. These are:
- Children in Need GetWild project, which delivers free nature-based activities for children in the most deprived areas of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme. This includes face to face delivery where possible, and now virtual activities and nature-based activity packs to families in need.
-Action for Children, which provides virtual and downloadable activities for children with special educational needs and their families in Stoke-on-Trent. They also deliver these face to face when possible.
Normally, they would also be running engagement events at their Westport Lake Visitor Centre, but sadly this is currently closed due to the pandemic!
The charity has been working to continue their people engagement work during the pandemic through their free Get Wild at Home platform, which can be accessed here; it offers a range of resources and activities to connect people with nature.
