Technical Considerations

SpecRite

SpecRite is designed primarily for specifiers or Marley roofing products who require National Building Specification clauses (NBS), for sections H60 Plain roof tiling and H65 Single lap. The program enables you to produce instant NBS clauses that meet the recommendations of British Standards, Codes of Practice and cover the Marley range of concrete tiles, slates, fittings and accessories.

Technical Considerations:

1. We recommend that you obtain your fixing specification for Marley roof tiles using our TileFix program to accompany your NBS Specification.
2. Where roof slopes exceed 6 metres in length and / or the site is severely exposed, guidance on roof pitch and lap should be obtained from the Technical Advisory Service. 01283 722588

TileFix

TileFix is designed primarily for builders' merchants, roofing contractors and specifiers of Marley roofing products, who require a fixing guide based on the geographical location of individual roofing projects.

Technical Considerations:

1. The fixing specification is calculated in accordance with BS EN 1991-1-4. Eurocode 1: Actions on structures – Parts 1-4: General actions – Wind actions and BS 5534 ‘Slating and tiling for pitched roofs and vertical cladding - Code of practice’.
2. Standard design values have been assumed for calculation purposes in accordance with the applicable British Standards. Please contact the Marley Technical Advisory Service should you require further information on 01283 722588
3. If the site is within 6km of an airport, please contact the Technical Advisory Service for guidance on the fixing specification.
4. Accelerated wind speeds that occur close to the base of tall buildings may affect the fixing specification for surrounding low-rise buildings. Should you have any concerns in this respect, please contact the Technical Advisory Service for guidance.
5. Where roof slopes exceed 6 metres in length and / or the site is severely exposed, guidance on roof pitch and lap should be obtained from the Technical Advisory Service.

Estimator

Estimator is designed primarily for builders' merchants and self builders who require a complete bill of materials for their individual roofing projects. The program enables you to generate an instant list materials, based on the roof shape, roof features and dimensions.

Technical Considerations:

1. Please note that Estimator is limited to roof applications of equal pitch only. Furthermore, Estimator provides a default specification of all tiles mechanically fixed. If a more accurate assessment of fixings is required, please use our TileFix program.
2. Under certain circumstances, for example site exposure and / or location, there may be a requirement to consider the use of stainless steel fixing, which are not allowed for in this program. Further advice can be obtained from the Technical Advisory Service on 01283 722588.
3. Where roof slopes exceed 6 metres in length and / or the site is severely exposed, guidance on roof pitch and lap should be obtained from the Technical Advisory Service.
4. Please note that in the calculation of quantities, a wastage allowance has been included. Marley Ltd cannot be held responsible for any shortfall or excess of material and we suggest all quantities are checked before ordering.
