Do I need to use an end coat?

When cross cutting, notching or boring preservative treated timber products during installation, an end coat preservative should always be applied to maintain the integrity of the protection. This ensures that the timber will continues to be fit for purpose and protect the exposed surface from rot, decay and fungi.

Marley supply an end coat preservative available in 1 litre tins which can be site applied easily with a brush. Where possible it is advisable to avoid cutting the decking on site, Marley provide a precision end trimming service where specific lengths may be required. Never put the cut end in contact with the ground even if coated with the end coat treatment.
